Number 10 and the Biblical Significance

Psalm 119:73-80

Your hands have made me and fashioned me;
Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.

In the Bible, the number 10 is used on many occasions to signify testimony, law and responsibility.
It is seen as a complete and perfect number, and it is used 242 times throughout the Bible.
Entire aggregate of something and completion or fullness. Completed order of a thing.

The Passover lamb was selected on the 10th day of the 1st month

The 10th day of the 7th month is the Holy Day known as the Day of Atonement.
“Ten Days of Repentance” (Days of Awe or Ten Days of Return) – From Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur.

July 27/28, 2023 - 10th of Muharram (Islamic) - Ashura (Arabic: عَاشُورَاء, ʿĀshūrāʾ, [ʕaːʃuːˈraːʔ]) is a day of commemoration in Islam. It occurs annually on the 10th of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.

Among Shia Muslims, Ashura is observed through large demonstrations of high-scale mourning as it marks the death of Husayn ibn Ali (a grandson of Muhammad), who was beheaded during the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.

Among Sunni Muslims, Ashura is observed through celebratory fasting as it marks the day of salvation for Moses and the Israelites, who successfully escaped from Biblical Egypt (where they were enslaved and persecuted) after Moses called upon God's power to part the Red Sea.

The root of the word Ashura means tenth in Semitic languages; hence the name, literally translated, means "the tenth day". It is derived from the Hebrew ʿāsōr, with the Aramaic determinative ending.
