Shavout - The Feast of Weeks – Pentecost

Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath
shall ye number fifty days;
and ye shall offer a new grain offering unto the Lord.
Leviticus 23:16

Sha·vu·oth
noun: Shavuot
1.      a major Jewish festival held on the 6th (and usually the 7th) of Sivan, fifty days after the second day of Passover. It was originally a harvest festival, but now also commemorates the giving of the Law (the Torah).

Passover /Barley  * Shavuot / Wheat

Biblically, Shavuot is identified with wheat firstfurits (Ex34:32), whereas passover time is identified with barley firstfruits. We must keep this separation and distinction in mind.

There is so much to GLEAN from this holiday – it is multifaceted in meaning, history and foretelling of Jesus Christ!  It is fascinating to study each aspect.  Please read the following articles that go in depth of this special time of offering to the Lord.

Below are a few highlights from scriptures relating to

Jewish tradition also notes the following associations with this festival season:
·         Enoch – birth and “rapture” at the time of Shavout
·         Ruth and Boaz – married at the time of Shavout
·         King David - birth and death at the time of Shavout

Pentecost

On Pentecost, the Church received the Comforter - the Holy Spirit sealing and promise that the Bridegroom would one day redeem (pick up) the purchased possession. Pentecost was a promise of a future fulfillment - a future completion. Our Comforter was also given to remind us of what Christ - our Redeemer - said, and what He wanted us to do, as we saw His promise coming closer to completion. We see the day approaching, right now!
Let us have an ear to hear what the Spirit saith to the Church! Time is short! Maranatha!

Majestic Pentecost wedding! June bride maybe

There is a lot to edify and ponder regarding God's word and example of this special feast.
This blog only scratches the surface!
May the Lord bless you as you study and learn the rich lessons he has prepared for us.

Jesus Christ - Yeshua Hamashiach - is our Passover Lamb! It is by his shed blood that we are saved (1 Corinthians 5:6-8).  The atonement for our sins has been fulfilled. It is important to note that we live under grace through the sacrifice of Christ. Yet these living symbols can enrich the comprehension of the finished work of Christ and deepen the understanding of future prophetic events.

The Pentecost-Rapture Scenario: The Church is “betrothed” to the Lord on Pentecost, marking the commencement of the Church Age. Roughly 2,000 years later, the Church is wed to the Lord, also on Pentecost, marking the conclusion of the Church Age. This parallels the biblical wedding tradition that consists of two stages: The first stage is the betrothal, or erusin, at which time the bride and groom become legally married via a written contract (shitre erusin) but do not dwell together. The second stage is the fullness or consummation (nisu’in), when the nuptials are finalized and the bride and groom dwell together.

Hebrew Calendar

In Exodus 12:2, יהוה instructed Moses and Aaron to reckon the month of the Exodus as "the head of the months" and it is to be the "head of the year". The Exodus occurred in Hebrew Month 1. As יהוה wanted Israel to be a spiritual nation walking in the light of truth, He instructed Moses and Aaron to reckon the Spiritual Year from the spring - from Month 1 - as this was also the month in which the universe was created.
The Creation Calendar Reckons the Universe was Created in Month 1

Thy word have I hid in mine heart

Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.

Psalm 119:11

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Psalm 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.
Psalm 119:74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Revelation 2:17
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,
and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written,
which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 1:16
And he had in his right hand seven stars:
and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword:
and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand,
and the seven golden candlesticks.
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches:
and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

Ancient Lands - Current Names

Ancient Lands and Their Current Names

And ye shall know that I am the Lord,
when I shall bring you into the land of Israel,
into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.
Ezekiel 20:42

Have you ever read some of the places in the Bible and wondered where they  were located, today?
It only takes a few moments to realize there are places mentioned in the  Bible that we cannot find on a map, today. Over the years, these places  have changed names. You can tell how some of them have changed because they  still look a little or sound a little like their ancient names. However,  some of them don't look or sound anything like the original names. Please find below a list of ancient biblical countries and their current names.
Below that list there is a list of ancient cities and where they are  located. Please refer to this list as you study God's Word. Feel free to print it and use it as needed. Inevitably, you will find ancient lands in the Bible and want to know where they are today.

India occurs only in Esther 1:1 and 8:9 where the extent of the dominion of the Persian king is described.  The country so designated here is not the peninsula of Hindustan, but the country surrounding the Indus, the Punjab.  The people and the products of India were well known to the Jews, who seem to have carried on an active trade with that country (Ezekiel 27:15 Ezekiel 27:24).

May Events

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits;
afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

1 Corinthians 15:20-23

Celestial Events
The planet Jupiter again dominates this month by being the most conspicuous planet in the night sky. You can look for the bright planet well above the south-southeastern horizon at nightfall. Jupiter moves toward the western horizon as time goes on but remains visible most of the night.
The red glow of Mars is still visible in the western sky after sunset. Mars is getting lower and more difficult to see.

At creation God set his timepieces in motion.

Genesis 1:1-16
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night;
and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven
to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day,
and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
