Nov 13 - Activists smash tablets atop ‘Mount Sinai’ to launch faith-based climate push

11/22/22 - Orthodox and Catholics could celebrate Easter on same date after 440 years - On the feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle on November 30, the Church of Constantinople will host a congress focused on the Council of Nicea and on resolving the Easter dilemma. Until the 16th century, both churches celebrated Easter on the same date, placing it on the Sunday after the spring equinox. But in 1582, Pope Gregory XIII instituted a new calendar that replaced the old Julian one created by Julius Caesar. All Catholic countries adopted the Gregorian calendar, while the Orthodox continued using the Julian. The Orthodox and Catholic leaders are working to unify the dates by 2025. It marks the 1,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicea.

Close to the border with Syria, Midyat in Turkey has been home to many civilizations over the last 3,000 years.
Excavation teams recently discovered a vast underground network of caves and passages forming an underground city, thought to be almost 2,000 years old.
Valuables dating back to Roman times were found in the dig, including candlesticks, coins and bracelets.
It’s believed the city was used as a space to work, store, sleep and worship in times of war, and would've been inhabited by 70,000 people.

The Winter of Discontent refers to the winter of 1978–79 in the United Kingdom. The phrase "Winter of Discontent" is from the opening line of William Shakespeare's Richard III: "Now is the winter of our discontent / Made glorious summer by this sun [or son] of York…", and was first applied to the events of the winter by Robin Chater, a writer at Incomes Data Report. It was subsequently used in a speech by James Callaghan and translated to define a crisis by tabloids – including The Sun.[4][5]

The weather turned very cold in the early months of 1979 with blizzards and deep snow, the coldest since 1962–63, rendering some jobs impossible, reducing retail spending and worsening the economy.[6]
