Light of Life

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
hath shined in our hearts, to give the light
of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:6

Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12

At the time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem.
It was winter, and Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

John 10:22-23

menorah: a lampstand
Hebrew: מְנֹרָה
Exodus 35:31-40
"Then you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand and its base and its shaft are to be made of hammered work; its cups, its bulbs and its flowers shall be of one piece with it. 32"Six branches shall go out from its sides; three branches of the lampstand from its one side and three branches of the lampstand from its other side. "Three cups shall be shaped like almond blossoms in the one branch, a bulb and a flower, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms in the other branch, a bulb and a flower-- so for six branches going out from the lampstand; ….  37"Then you shall make its lamps seven in number; and they shall mount its lamps so as to shed light on the space in front of it.
40"See that you make them after the pattern for them, which was shown to you on the mountain.  (Moses was given instruction.)

Over time, the Menorah became a symbol of Israel, but very few Israelites other than the priests actually knew what it looked like. In fact, its familiar depiction that goes back to the Arc of Titus and beyond, is first of all a guess and secondly most probably an attempted visualization of the ten Solomonic Menoroth, rather than the Mosaic one (1 Kings 7:49).

Exodus 27:20
You are to command the Israelites to bring you pure oil from crushed olives for the light, in order to keep the lamp burning continually

John 1:1-15
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ — Chapters 1-3

This is the mystery of the seven stars you saw in My right hand and of the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

The central stick is known as the Shamash or ‘servant’ by the Jews. Each candle is specially lit by the Shamash, the servant candle. Scripture teaches us that Jesus is God’s Shamash – the servant of the Lord. And this Shamash is the Light of that World. The true light which came into the world and illuminates us all. In the prophetic picture we are looking at, the Shamash also represents a Body of servant messengers, the sons of oil, who serve the Body by lighting each lamp of the other six candlesticks.
