Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you, though a wild
olive branch,
were grafted in among them
and have come to share in the rich root of the cultivated olive tree.

"Tree of
Life" - Syracuse professor grows 40 different fruits on one tree
Sam Van Aken, an art professor at Syracuse University, grafted the tree
over nine years into something of biblical proportions. The "Tree of 40
Fruits" contains peaches, plums, nectarines and apricots, all of which are
readily edible. Jeff Glor reports.

Updated Mar 21, 2016; Posted Sep 10, 2011 - "It's a metaphor for a lot of
things."
Van Aken chose 40 because it's a number that appears often
in the Bible, he said. It rained 40 days and 40 nights, and after the rain
stopped, Noah waited another 40 days before opening the ark. Moses stayed on the
mountain for 40 days, the Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness, and
Christ spent 40 days on earth after the resurrection.
"Forty is a number that became significant throughout Western religion," he said. "It's a number that always seems to recur in the Bible. It's a number that represents bounty."

Most of his root stock
comes from Cornell University's New York State Agricultural Experiment Station
in Geneva, which has experimented and developed growing techniques for 125
years.
He works with stone fruits
-- those with pits -- because they're compatible," he said.
"You can't take a pear and graft it to an apple tree. It's not very stable," he said.

Grafted
by Faith Alone - I learned a lot from the following booklet and accompanying
video "The Law" (below).
“Gentile
does not normally mean heathen (although in some contexts it can). A Gentile is
simply someone who is not a descendant of Eber (since those are Hebrews; named
after their forefather).”
What a blessing to
read, hear, ponder and partake of this teaching!
For the promise, that he should be the heir of
the world,
was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through
the law,
but through the righteousness of faith.”
- Romans 4:11-13 See pages 15 & 20
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all
sin.

GRAFTING
OLIVES
It is
most instructive to note that the fruit of the olive tree, in its wild state,
is both small and worthless. It must be properly tended and cultivated to
produce optimum fruit. To become truly prolific, the olive tree must be
grafted, a process by which good stock is made to grow upon a wild shrub.

Stand fast therefore in
the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,
and be not entangled
again with the yoke of bondage.
