October 10, 2018 UpdateThe Arch4Peace project becomes Heritage for Future!

First of all, we regret to inform you that the replica of the Palmyra Arch is not coming to the Hague.  We would like to say a few words on the reasons why we had to take this decision and what it means for our project.

During our cooperation we unfortunately discovered a difference in priorities between the owner of the Arch, the Institute for Digital Archaeology (IDA), and us, The Centre for Global Heritage and Development. While IDA was stressing the high profile and the presence of VIPS, we focused on inclusiveness. We wanted to make an accessible event targeting specifically the Syrian-Dutch community. Our different approaches resulted in a delay and mistrust and in the end, forced us to end the cooperation with IDA.

We want to thank you for your patience. But we also want to follow up on all the work that has already been done, knowing that we have found so much enthusiasm and support along the way. The central message for our project was and will remain ‘resilience’. The Hague is ready for an event highlighting Syrian Cultural Heritage as a meeting point. Therefore we are exploring options to continue the Arch4Peace project as Heritage for Future. No arch, but full of real people, with two weeks of inspiring activities (music, dance, lectures on Syrian archaeology, workshops, poetry and matchmaking) for anyone to join.

Met vriendelijke groet, / With kind regards,

Palmyra Arch in the City of Peace and Justice
Start date Wednesday 17 October 2018 - 19:00
End date Wednesday 7 November 2018 - 09:00
Location The Hague, Peace Palace

Days after the announcement of the September 26-28 unveiling of the Palmyra Triumphal Arch on the National Mall, it was disclosed that the Arch’s next stop will be to The Peace Palace at The Hague, NL ”The temple of peace and justice” as the Peace Palace is described will host the replica from October 17 through Nov. 7.  The International Court of Justice is located in the Palace of Peace.
Following earlier, highly successful events in London, Florence, Dubai, New York and Arona, the arch will now come to The Hague, at the Lange Voorhout!
A change in venue??
The Hague is the fourth major centre for the United Nations, after New York, Geneva and Vienna.

The foundation of The Hague as an "international city of peace and justice" started at the end of the 19th century, when the first global Conference of peace took place in The Hague. A direct result of these meetings was the establishment of the world's first organization for the settlement of international disputes: the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). Shortly thereafter the Scottish-American millionaire Andrew Carnegie made the necessary funds available to build the Peace Palace to house the PCA. After the establishment of the League of Nations, The Hague became the seat of the Permanent Court of International Justice, which was replaced by the UN's International Court of Justice after World War II.
“The Hague was first mentioned as Die Haghein 1242. In the 15th century, the name des Graven hage came into use, literally “The Count’s Wood,” with connotations like “The Count’s Hedge, Private Enclosure or Hunting Grounds.” The city is also home to the U.N.’s International Court of Justice, headquartered in the Peace Palace, and the International Criminal Court.

The Peace Palace is the icon and symbol of world peace. It houses the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), The Hague Academy of International Law and the largest library on international law in the world. This video provides an overview of how people work towards a more peaceful world at the Peace Palace on a daily basis. It includes impressive and unique images of the beautiful building that were filmed with a drone. The timing comes after the United States debacle of the U.S. Supreme Court nomination.

Multiple high court and “Peace and Safety” messaging

1 John 2:1-2
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ...

Advocate: 3875 paráklētos (from 3844 /pará, "from close-beside" and 2564 /kaléō, "make a call") – properly, a legal advocate who makes the right judgment-call because close enough to the situation. 3875 /paráklētos ("advocate, advisor-helper") is the regular term in NT times of an attorney (lawyer) – i.e. someone giving evidence that stands up in court.
Synonyms of propitiate: appease, assuage, conciliate, disarm, gentle, mollify, pacify, placate

Revelation 20:4-6  The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for [a]a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Arch of Triumph in Washington D.C. and then on to The Hague, The Netherlands
After the Arch of Triumph replica leaves Washington D.C. it will be headed to The Hague, Netherlands in October. Who can say judgement is coming? First to the government of the “free world” and then to the international court…pay attention, the placement of these arches tells a story.

An Oct. 2 post by Arona, Italy, Mayor Alberto Gusmeroli mentions the date October 12.

On this special occasion, a great cultural program has been carefully designed to embrace the Syrian heritage!
Esseline lived and worked in Syria, where she created the Room of Listening. She worked as trainer for the United Nations (UNRWA) and as correspondent for the national Dutch newspaper Telegraaf and for VPRO-radio.

Following earlier, highly successful events in London, Florence, Dubai, New York and Arona, the arch will now come to The Hague. The arch will be placed aside the Peace Palace in The Hague to allow ordinary people – both Dutch citizens and Syrian refugees to literally touch it and engage with it.
The arch will now function as a meeting point for Syrian migrants and expats and the Dutch community.
From seven years until now Syrian heritage has been under attack.

Syrian Heritage

Located at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, the land that would become modern Syria faced the rise of the great Southern empires emerging from Ur, Bablyon, Assur, Akkad and Sumer.
Religion
Religion, too, left its mark. Abraham, father of the Jewish nation, pastured sheep on the hill of Aleppo and gave the city its Arabic name – Halab.
The Christian story of the conversion of Saul to Paul the Apostle occurred in Damascus, and in 2010 mass was still held in the house he reputedly inhabited almost 2,000 years ago. The head of the John the Baptist, cousin of Jesus, is said to be enshrined in the Great Mosque in Damascus.

The village Maloula is amongst the last places in the world where Aramaic, the language spoken at the time of Jesus, can still be heard – part of a living, breathing, spoken history. Khalid ibn al-Walid, companion to the Prophet Muhammad, founder of Islam, is buried in Homs in his namesake mosque. Muhammad’s successors left a legacy of beautiful mosques: several are now part of World Heritage sites.

The first site in Syria, Ancient City of Damascus, was inscribed on the list at the 3rd Session of the World Heritage Committee, held in ParisFrance in 1979.[3] Ancient City of Bosra and Site of Palmyra were inscribed the following year as the second and the third site, while Ancient City of Aleppo was added in 1986

Friday, September 16, 2018, the DGAM (Directorate-General of Antiquities & Museums), in partnership with Iconem, started to conduct a photographic survey on the site of the Citadel of Aleppo.

The Temple of Bel is indeed one of Palmyra’s main building. Dedicated in 32 AD and consecrated to the protective divinity of Palmyra, the Mesopotamian god Bel, the Temple of Bel was before its destruction one of the best preserved antique temples of Syria and testifies this rich caravan civilization.

Syria's recovered antiquities go on display at Damascus opera
DAMASCUS - Syria's antiquities authority on Wednesday unveiled an exhibition in Damascus of hundreds of artefacts retrieved from around the war-torn country.
On Wednesday evening, golden coins, bronze statues and amphoras were among 500 artifacts on show at the Damascus opera house.
In total, more than 9,000 pieces have been salvaged, he said.
They come from various regions of Syria, including the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, the southern province of Daraa, and the UNESCO-listed site of Palmyra, he said.

Syria stood at the heart of the ancient Middle East, a crucible for some of the world’s earliest civilizations and was at times incorporated into Egyptian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Hittite, Persian, Greek and Roman empires.
The life-sized image of Yalhi bin Yalhabouda, standing out in relief from a stone tombstone, was excavated from Palmyra’s ancient tombs, said the city’s new antiquities chief Hariri, and found in a house in the modern town.
It is inscribed with his name and year of death and shows him carrying a cup of sacred oil and a bowl of cereal, such as would have been ritually distributed after his demise.

God vs. Baal - "Showdown at Mt. Carmel"

1 Kings 18:19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
1 Kings 18:20 So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.

1 Kings 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

1 Kings 19:15 And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Mount Carmel (Hebrewהַר הַכַּרְמֶלHar HaKarmel ISO 259-3 Har ha Karmell (lit. God's vineyard); Arabicالكرمل‎, Al-Kurmul, or Arabicجبل مار إلياس‎, Jabal Mar Elyas (lit. Mount Saint Elias/Elijah) is a coastal mountain range -  The name is presumed to be directly from the Hebrew language word Carmel (כַּרְמֶל), which means "fresh" (planted), or "vineyard" (planted).

~~~ Update September 2019 ~~
Our story about the foundation of International Conference for Truth, Justice and Peace (ICTIP) begins at Pillar of Fire, a Dutch charity institute based on Biblical faith and committed to blessing the people and State of Israel in word and deed.
Pillar of Fire is located in the Residence and the seat of the Government of the Netherlands, that is The Hague. Being the second UN city, this metropolitan is diplomatically considered to be the international capital of Peace and Justice. It is home to dozens of global non-governmental organizations, that are active in the field of peace and justice. One of these devotees is International Conference for Truth, Justice and Peace (ICTIP), which was derived from Pillar of Fire.
It just so happened, that the motto “VREDE EN RECHT”, translated Peace and Justice, in  The Hague’s cotes of arms, has led to the creation of ICTIP! This, since it brought us to questioning the conditions for Peace and Justice. The missing link in this slogan and the condition for achieving the high values of Peace and Justice, is to our believe, adding the value of Truth to Peace and Justice.
In a way, speaking words of truth is the calling of ICTIP. Therefore, in June 2017, we expressed our vision on the call in Psalm 2 verse 10 (“Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth”) by organizing a closed-door conference for 24 universal lawyers and experts in the field of international law, from 12 nations.
The group of participants in the JPB moved to the Peace Palace after the formal meeting in the Ridderzaal. A small delegation (11 people) was received in the Peace Palace for a tour. Unfortunately, the Peace Palace had decided a few days earlier that the participants of the JPB were suddenly not welcome and therefore had to stay outside the gates. The reason given was: for safety reasons.
