Stand fast therefore in the
liberty
wherewith Christ hath made
us free.
Galatians 5:1
While I was writing my last blog with a freedom theme I
had a mental picture of birds beings released from a bird cage. That is the fullness of our redemption that
we await - the day of our complete release (Luke 21:28, Romans 8:23)! Today I am
inspired to pursue that vision. The image above (and below) along with the verse encapsulates the thought in my head. In our heart, mind, and spirit we are free –
we are free through the sacrifice of Christ (John 8:32, John 8:36, and Romans 3:24; 6:18).
Spiritually
we are free in Christ, yet at the same time we are still held physically
captive in this world under the sway of the evil one (Isaiah 5:20, Ephesians
6:10-13, 1 Peter 5:8). The lies of Satan
have deceived this world through his influence in this world’s systems, media
and entertainment. Jesus referred to him as “the ruler of this world” (John
12:31), and Paul calls him “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2)
and “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). John makes a further
distinction when he says: “We know that we are of God, and the whole world is
in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).
And not only they, but
ourselves also,
which have the firstfruits
of the Spirit, even we ourselves
groan within ourselves,
waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of
our body.
Romans 8:23
May
these words comfort you and renew the freedom now and greater freedom to come!
I am he that liveth, and
was dead;
and, behold, I am alive for evermore,
and, behold, I am alive for evermore,
Amen; and have the keys of
hell and of death.
Revelation 1:18
Revelation
1:1-8
1 The
Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants
things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his
angel unto his servant John:
2 Who
bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of
all things that he saw.
3
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and
keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
4 John
to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him
which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which
are before his throne;
5 And
from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the
dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and
washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And
hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and
dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7
Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which
pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so,
Amen.
8 I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and
which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
And
the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
And
let him that heareth say, Come.
And
let him that is athirst come.
And
whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17
Enter
into his gates with thanksgiving,
and
into his courts with praise:
be
thankful unto him, and bless his name.
