neither shall any

So many thoughts and events keep drawing me back to this
chapter in the book of John and this image.
The 10th chapter of John tells us Jesus is the DOOR and our SHEPHERD. I’ve shared this photo collage before. I’m thankful for
the inspiring work of Daniel at Informedchristians.com who
created this study tool and piece of literary art. Our wonderful Lord and
Savior spoke these eternal words that give us lasting images in our hearts and
minds to edify and sustain us. Much can be expounded on these pages alone – a
powerful time in the life and teachings of Christ.
We are now in the time of Feast of Dedication or Hanukkah.

This reminds us that Jesus is the fulfillment of this
festival – he is the one who dedicates, renews and purifies. He is the consecrating
light of the world!

Several news events have pointed us to this biblical story.
- A camel traveling to a Jewish Event
- Beka weight artifact found from First Temple Era
Traveling to
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a camel
was stranded along Route 309 in the Lehigh Valley. “We just needed his weight
out of the trailer to make it up the hill and he was very compliant and
considerate to help out and walk for a few minutes!”
The Jewish Federation
of Greater Philadelphia tweeted that the camel was on its way for their main
event at the Kimmel Center and didn’t make it due to the weather.

New discovery: A 3000
year old “Beka” weight
Much attention is drawn today to Jerusalem and the Temple
Mount. A recent archaeological discovery points us back to Rebekah’s story as
well as to this season and same area where it was recorded that Jesus walked -
Solomon’s Porch (Portico). Below the
area of Solomon’s Porch is the where the “Beka” weight was located near
Roberson’s Arch and the Trumpeting Stone.
FIRST TEMPLE BEKA WEIGHT
UNEARTHED IN JERUSALEM SIFTING PROJECT

Artifact from First Temple period
unearthed in Jerusalem. ‘Beka’ counting weight for census with ancient Hebrew
script found in soil removed from Western Wall foundations.
The weight, dated to
the First Temple period, was found in archaeological soil originating from the
Western Wall foundations, north of the City of David, at the foot of Robinson's Arch.
The Beka weight was
used to weigh the half-shekel donation brought by the Jewish people for the
maintenance of the Temple and the census…It should be noted that the biblical
shekel weighed 11.33 grams. “Beka weights from the First Temple period are
rare; however this weight is even rarer, because the inscription on it is
written in mirror script ..."
The word “beka”
appears twice in the Torah: first as the weight of gold in a nose ring given to
matriarch Rebekah in the Book of Genesis, and later in the Book of Exodus as a
weight for the donation brought by the Jewish people for the maintenance of the
Temple and the census, as recorded in Exodus 38, Verse 26: “One beka per head;
[that is,] half a shekel, according to the holy shekel, for each one who goes
through the counting, from 20 years old and upward, for 603,550 [people].”

as it’s now called, the Jerusalem Archaeological Garden - Davidson Exhibition
and Virtual Reconstruction Center.
This video is footage
of Robinson's Arch area (named for American Bible scholar Edward Robinson, who
first identified the remains in the 19th century), the site of the Egalitarian
Plaza, at the southern end of the Western Wall, Jerusalem. The boulders
scattered on the ground are where they lay from when the Romans destroyed the
second temple in 70 CE, and pushed them off the temple mount. They are still
where they fell 2000 years ago.

Robinson's Arch provided people in the Lower City and
the Tyropoeon Valley access to the southwestern corner of the Temple Mount.
There would be immediate access to the colonnades and courtyards. The
Robinson's Arch staircase leading from the City of David up to the Temple was
massive. There were priest's stationed at the Arch on the Sabbath to sound the
trumpets. You can also see Wilson's Arch to the left of Robinson's Arch, this
was the main entrance into the Temple from the West.
The Place of
Trumpeting Stone
A stone was discovered
at the base of Robinson's Arch inscribed with the words
"To the place of trumpeting."
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound,
and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed.

Greek: thuróros: a doorkeeper
Original Word: θυρωρός,
οῦ, ὁ, ἡ
Usage: a
door-keeper, porter.
John 10:1-5
Verily, verily, I say
unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but
climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth
in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter
openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name,
and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth
forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they
know his voice.
5 And a stranger will
they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of
strangers.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

From which tribe will the Messiah
come? Judah! (Gen 49:10, Heb 7:14)
What is the significance of the
"door"? Yeshua tells us in John
10:9 - I am the door.
If anyone enters by me, he will be
saved...
Putting this together, we have the
Messiah coming from the Tribe of Judah, in which the name of Judah is God's name
that includes a "door" -- exactly what Yeshua calls Himself!
Trove of 11th century
gold coins discovered in ancient Caesarea
The discovery was made
during digging and conservation work that is being conducted in the area. It
was announced amid the Hanukkah holiday, which among other traditions includes gifting small amounts of money ("gelt" in
Yiddish) or chocolate coins to children.
“The cache is a silent
testimony to one of the most dramatic events in the history of Caesarea – the
violent conquest of the city by the Crusaders. Someone hid their fortune,
hoping to retrieve it – but never returned

Baldwin I of Jerusalem
was behind the Crusader conquest of Caesarea in 1101. After his
coronation in Jerusalem on December 25, 1100, he captured a series of port
cities
For Kool, however, the
Hannukah miracle has already happened. He acknowledged that institutions are
always trying to find significant ways to tie holidays to their finds. “But
this year, ironically, everything came together,” he said.
“A little vessel —
albeit bronze — but full of Islamic and Christian coins found close to the
Jewish feast of Hanukkah… I find it significant,” he said. “You can be cynical
about it, but on the other hand, for us, in terms of the archaeology it’s a
small miracle to find something like that.”

Our attention has
been brought to the Temple Mount and specifically to the Western Wall! Now with the "Beka" weight it is to the SW corner.
