Elul – Beloved’s Harvest

I belong to my beloved
and he belongs to me

Song of Songs 6:3

6th Month - Elul:  (12th Month of Civil Year)
A month of processing grapes, figs, almonds & olives

The four letters of the name Elul
are an acronym for the phrase in
Song of Solomon 6:3

Vav is the 6th letter in the Hebrew alphabet and is a connecting letter. It is a hook, a spear, a tent peg and connects things together. The letter Vav in Hebrew literally implies the connecting between heaven and earth. This month of Elul is a special time of connecting Heaven and Earth; our hearts with His heart.

It is called “the month of repentance,” “the month of mercy”
and “the month of forgiveness.”
The Month of Elul begins the 40 days of preparation for the High Holy Days
leading to the Day of Atonement. This is a time of fasting, prayer and repentance to ready one’s self for the Day of Atonement (fulfilled in Christ's sacrifice/covering for our sins).
Elul follows the two previous months of Tammuz
and Av— (in the Hebrew calendar) the twelfth month of the civil and sixth of
the religious year, usually coinciding with parts of August and September.

40 days of Teshuvah
Repentance (Hebrew: תשובה‎, literally, "return", pronounced tshuva or teshuva)

Elul brings the daily blowing of the shofar
Repentance (Hebrew: תשובה, literally, "return," pronounced "tshuva" or "teshuva")
is one element of atoning for sin.

An Exhortation to Repentance
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God, for you have stumbled by your iniquity. Bring your confessions and return to the LORD. Say to Him: “Take away all our iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips. Assyria will not save us, nor will we ride on horses. We will never again say, ‘Our gods!’ to the work of our own hands. For in You the orphan finds compassion.”…
Hosea 14:1-3  Berean Study Bible

The month of Elul is a month of preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
That’s why Jews blow the shofar (almost) every day of the month.

Hebrewאֱלוּל‎, Elul is the sixth month of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar and twelfth month of the Jewish civil year. It is a summer month of 29 days.  Elul is an Akkadian word for "harvest."
The word "Elul" is similar to the root of the verb "search" in Aramaic. The Hebrew word "Elul" can be understood to be an acronym for the phrase "Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li" – "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."
Elul is seen as a time to search one's heart and draw close to God in preparation for the coming Day of Judgement, Rosh Hashanah, and Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.

Understanding the sin-filled world where we live that easily deceives and ensnares us is a daily battle.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.…
Hebrews 12:1-2

Our hearts grieve for all things to be set right.

Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart on the right course.

Revelation 1:8
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,
saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

When we LOOK UP we see the clock
- God's created timepiece as presented in the sky!
We are near the midnight hour!

This gives new meaning to the reference of MIDNIGHT -
Matthew 25:6
And at midnight there was a cry made,
Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old,
called the Devil and Satan,

who deceives the whole world;
he was cast to the earth,
and his angels were cast out with him.

Unlike our, Western - Gregorian, calendar the biblical calendar dates
can not be predetermined, but are fixed by observation.

In Genesis 1:14
GOD said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky
..... to serve to mark the seasons and days of years."

shofar / shophar: a horn (for blowing)  שׁוֹפָר

The four letters in the Hebrew word shofar are Sheen ~ Vav ~ Pey ~ Reysh.

The Amazing Mystery to be Found in the Word 'Shofar'
Let’s discover the hidden meaning in these letters that lies just beneath the surface.

The central observance of Rosh Hashanah is blowing the shofar (ram’s horn) on both mornings of the holiday (except on Shabbat), which is normally done in synagogue as part of the day’s services but may be done elsewhere for those who cannot attend.

Aug 24 - Sanhedrin Requests To Blow Shofar on Temple Mount for Rosh Hashanah/Yom Teruah, 5781/2020 https://youtu.be/2hoHcKroIqs
“Jews are only permitted to enter the Temple Mount five days a week: Sunday to Thursday. This year, the first day of Rosh Hashanna is on Saturday, the Sabbath. According to Jewish law, it is forbidden to blow the shofar on the Sabbath except for on the Temple Mount. So we submitted a request to permit a group of Jews to do so; to blow the shofar on the Temple Mount on the first day of Rosh Hashana,” Aviad Vosoli, Land of Israel Organization.

Maranatha!
