The foundations of the wall of the city were
adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the
second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx,
the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz,
the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
Revelation
21:19-20
The description of the foundations of the New
Jerusalem mentions twelve different stones. Immediately, this brings to mind
the twelve stones on the high priest’s breastplate.
Revelation 21:19-20.
Revelation 21:19-20.
Each stone represented one of the twelve tribes:
On the outside of the breastplate and placed in gold settings
were twelve precious stones in four rows of three stones each. On each of the
stones was inscribed the name of one of the tribes of Israel, presumably in the
order of their births, as was the case with the onyx stones on the shoulders
(Ex. Ex. 28:10). The
order and names of the stones are listed in Exodus
Ex. 28:17-20.
Ex. 28:17-20.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
Song of Solomon 2:4
The stones and banners of Israel are discussed in this video.
The study of these symbols is fascinating...
I'm still learning about this glorious aspect of God's revelation.
Many, O LORD my God, are the
wonders which You have done,
And Your
thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You.
If I would declare and
speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.
Psalm 40:5
I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power
belong to the
Lord our God!
Rev.19:1
Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament
that was above the head of the cherubims
there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone,
as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
