A motorcade of 85 vehicles escorted President Joseph Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to the Vatican on Friday morning for a private meeting with Pope Francis a day before the G20 summit of world leaders in Rome.
The President also gave Francis a handwoven vestment from the 1930s that came from the archival collection of Biden's Washington, DC, parish, Holy Trinity Church. The garment is a "handwoven fiddleback chasuble" that "was commissioned by Gammarelli of Rome in 1930 and has since been utilized by the Society of Jesus in the United States," according to a White House official. The chasuble was framed by artisans in Washington, DC, with "naturally fallen wood from the White House grounds" and historic marble reclaimed from the original pulpit of the church.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., also recently met with Pope Francis. San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has repeatedly spoken out in opposition to Catholic politicians supporting abortion, and urged prayer for Pelosi. Pelosi and other self-professed Catholics cannot "claim to be a devout Catholic and condone the killing of innocent human life, let alone have the government pay for it."
Pelosi has also expressed support for eliminating the Hyde Amendment, a federal policy in place since 1976 prohibiting most abortions from being funded through Medicaid.
She is the third high-level U.S. official to meet with Pope Francis, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Special Climate Envoy John Kerry separately visited the Vatican. Pelosi was in Rome for a meeting of parliamentary leaders ahead of the COP26 climate summit to be held in Glasgow. 
The Pope will not travel to Glasgow for COP26, but he has been actively promoting the upcoming climate conference, which will begin on Oct. 31, asking participants to reach concrete and ambitious agreements.

Putin indicated he is for “peace, security, and stability in the Middle East.” Putin appears to be on a collision course with Ezekiel 38-39 and 1 Thessalonians 5:3.
Israel and Egypt are in talks to expand natural gas production and distribution to Europe. Time line for the project appears to be a couple of years away. The back drop is the continued inflation of natural gas prices across Europe. Prices have exploded 5 to 6 times over the past year. Supply has been cut by the Russians. Prices look to be going even higher with winter around the corner.
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz is leaving on a four day trip. But Israel is not telling the destination. Speculation is running high. I smell discussions regarding the Abraham Accords. More "peace and security"...

The US Border Patrol Union (NBPC) does not encourage members to get vaccinated and has said it would like to file a legal challenge to Biden’s mandate that all federal employees be immunized by Nov. 22, but it has not yet found lawyers willing to take the case. The union president said the rising deaths saddened him but that the vaccines remain a “personal choice.” “We are 100 percent opposed to a mandate for a vaccine that still, to this date, has proven that you can still get covid. We think that this is political,” Brandon Judd, president of the NBPC, said in an interview. “We believe that people should have the right to choose. If they choose to get vaccinated, good for them. If they choose not to, I think that’s their choice.”
